Beaches in Orebic are pebble beaches, with small and gentle pebbles and shallow waters that gradually descent into the deeper sea. Orebic is blessed with large number of beautiful beaches all along it's coast, from outskirts of the town all the way to the town centre. The beaches in Orebic are one of the main reasons why this town is the second most popular tourist destination in south Dalmatia, behind the town of Dubrovnik, and thanks to the number of beaches, they are not to crowded even in the high season. Not only that the town of Orebic and the entire area of south-western part of the peninsula of Peljesac have been blessed with numerous beautiful beaches, but also the municipality of Orebic is well known in Croatia for sustainable management and long term development of its beaches. Local people are well aware of the importance these beaches have for their tourist development and they keep improving them year after year. Recently, local administration has began the categorization of existing beaches and development of "themed beaches"; romantic beaches, beaches for pets, family beaches, diving beaches, beaches for surfers, party beaches, nudist beaches, adrenalin beaches, etc. In their words: "Systematic quality management and long-term protection of the most valuable space in Orebic, represents one of the essential factors of superior, long-term, sustainable positioning of the whole destination." It looks like they are very serious when it comes to their beaches, so lets start exploring what they have to offer.
Located around 1.5 kilometers west from the centre of Orebic, in front of the hotel Orsan, these two beautiful pebble beaches offer peace and tranquillity even in the busiest summer months. Smaller beach, located on the western part of the bay is more private, is approximately 80 metres long and 8 metres wide. It is surrounded by pine forest, without much shade on the beach. The beach is accessible by asphalt road or by sea-side promenade. Right above the beach a popular beach club, with lots of entertainment facilities, parking, toilettes, showers and everything you need for a perfect day on the beach. The beach is made of small pebbles, some stone and concrete slabs. It is oriented towards south-east and with beautiful view of town Korcula and Peljesac channel receives abundant sunshine during whole day. It is open to prevailing western summer winds. The beach is designated as a "party beach" with very high importance for local tourism and its most prominent features are: isolated location, privacy, natural gravel sediment, amenities, ambience.
The beach on the eastern part of the bay, right in front of hotel Orsan is 120 metres long and 10 metres wide pebble beach, consisting of small gravel, some rocks and a concrete pier. The entrance to the sea is shallow which makes it ideal for families with small children. The beach is surrounded by lush vegetation of pine and tamarisk trees, however there is not much natural shade on the beach. The beach is accessible by sea-side promenade or by road, with parking being available in the hotel resort. The resort offers everything one needs for a relaxed day on the beach. The underwater life is very ambundant and the water is ideal for snorkeling, both west or east from the beach. Pets are not allowed on this beach, and there is possibility of renting lounge chairs and parasols. This beach is categorised as a beach of utmost importance for the local tourism, and is designates as a "resort beach". It is important to mention that the beach is open for all visitors, and not only for the visitors of hotel resort.
